This policy describes the current app and this website. We will update it if their data practices change.

This website

This site does not include analytics scripts, advertising trackers, account registration, or contact forms. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes connection information, such as your IP address and requested pages, to serve and protect it. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The OpenString app

OpenString works on your device without an account or application server. The tuner requests microphone access to measure musical pitch. Microphone audio is processed in memory on your device; OpenString does not save recordings or upload audio. Songs and preferences are stored locally. The app does not include advertising or analytics.

When you export a library, OpenString creates a file and opens the system share sheet. You choose where it goes. A cloud storage or sharing service you select handles that copy under its own terms and privacy policy. Import uses the system document picker. OpenString keeps a local recovery copy when you replace a library.

Your choices

You can turn microphone access off in iPhone Settings. You can delete songs in the app. Removing the app removes its local data; exported copies remain wherever you saved them, and device backups are managed through your Apple settings.
