Reporting a problem

Include the app version, your iPhone model and iOS version, what you were doing, and what happened. A screenshot can help. Avoid sending private song material unless it is needed to explain the issue.

Using the guitar tuner

Choose the string you want to tune and play it on its own. Keep your iPhone near your guitar. If the reading is uncertain, mute the other strings and pluck again. The tuner uses standard E–A–D–G–B–E guitar tuning.

Microphone access

The tuner needs microphone permission. If access was declined, you can review permissions in your iPhone’s Settings under Privacy & Security → Microphone.

Keeping time

Use the metronome’s tempo controls for 40–240 BPM or tap a few times to set your pace. It plays quarter notes in 4/4 with an accent on beat one. Sound stops when you leave the tool or put the app in the background.

Back up and restore your songs

Use Export in the Songs tab to save a library archive through the system share sheet. To restore it, choose your OpenString JSON archive with the document picker. Restoring replaces your current library after confirmation and keeps a local recovery copy.

Keep a copy of exported songs somewhere outside the app before removing it or changing devices. App data may be lost when the app is deleted.

Privacy

Read the privacy page for how the app and website handle your data.
